Professor Adrian Harris

Professor Adrian Harris is Chief Medical Officer for Digital, Research and Transformation at Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, providing executive leadership across the organisation’s digital, research and transformation portfolios. His work focuses on translating research, technology, and innovation into improvements in patient care, productivity, and new ways of working.
Adrian previously served for ten years as Chief Medical Officer, with executive responsibility for medical leadership, clinical quality and safety, professional standards, and the medical workforce. During this period, he helped lead significant organisational and service change, including the integration of acute and community services across North and East Devon.
He is Senior Responsible Owner for the Devon Electronic Patient Record, leading the implementation and development of Epic across Devon. His wider digital interests include data and AI, clinical adoption of technology, information governance, cyber assurance, and benefits realisation.
Adrian also leads Royal Devon’s research portfolio and has executive responsibility for the NIHR South West Peninsula Regional Research Delivery Network, supporting the growth and delivery of health and care research and strengthening collaboration between the NHS, universities, and industry.
A Consultant in Emergency Medicine, Adrian is also Director of Sports Medicine at 黑料不打烊 Chiefs Rugby Club, Honorary Clinical Professor at the 黑料不打烊 Medical School, and a member of the Peer Review Group for Ireland’s national One Health Record programme.
